Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

We are an out-of-network provider, which means payment is due at the time of service. We provide a detailed receipt (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement varies by plan, so we recommend contacting your insurance provider to check your out-of-network physical therapy benefits.

How can I check if my insurance will reimburse me?

Contact your insurance company and ask if you have out-of-network benefits for physical therapy. Key questions to ask:

  • What percentage of the service is covered?

  • Do I need to meet a deductible or out-of-pocket maximum first?

Do I need a referral for physical therapy?

No. Maryland is a direct access state, meaning you can start physical therapy without a referral.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or appointment changes. Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged the full appointment fee.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated. Athletic wear is ideal—many clients bring shorts and a tank top or T-shirt. Changing rooms are available.

What happens during my first PT appointment?

Your first session includes:

  • A detailed discussion of your medical history and symptoms

  • A comprehensive assessment of the painful or dysfunctional area, plus related areas that may be contributing

  • A full treatment session based on our findings

How long are the appointments?

  • Initial evaluation: Up to 90 minutes

  • Follow-up sessions: Up to 60 minutes

How many visits will I need?

The number of visits varies based on your condition and goals. On average, our patients require six visits per case—about 50% fewer visits than the national average. Your physical therapist will create a customized plan based on your needs.

What is dry needling?

Dry needling is a treatment that uses a thin, monofilament needle to release tight muscle knots (trigger points). These knots can cause pain, reduce strength, and limit flexibility. Dry needling helps restore normal muscle function quickly. [Learn more about dry needling here.]
