Dr. Cara Atwell PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, CMTPT, FAAOMPT.

At a time when quantity is the new standard of healthcare we decided to do something a little different.

We have created a physical therapy practice that is based on building relationships.

We started our “mom and pop” physical therapy clinic as a way to do more of what we love and help the people that we care about.

We decided to move on from our jobs at traditional physical therapy clinics because of the inability to give patients the amount of time and focus we felt they deserved.

Traditional physical therapy practices are run like machines. One patient in and out every 15, 30, or 45 minutes straight for 8 to 12 hours a day. With a case load like that there is absolutely no way a physical therapist can give you 100% of their attention and expertise.

We refuse to practice this way and we refuse to treat our patients this way.

Physical therapy has the power to change lives, even save lives (we can say that, because some of our patient’s have told us that).

But you can’t make a lasting impact without the appropriate time and without building a relationship.

That is why we started GOfit.

Where It All Started:

We met in physical therapy school at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Truth be told we actually first met on a ropes course at a PT class team building exercise. Introductions were made and it wasn’t longer than three months before we were officially dating.

We graduated school together and both started working at the same outpatient physical therapy clinic in Baltimore.

We have always gone above and beyond our peers with our continuing education. Before we had graduated physical therapy school we had already finished our first manual therapy certification, something few therapists will ever do during their career.

After a few years in Baltimore, wanting to spread our wings, we moved to Annapolis(Cara’s hometown) and started to work together for another private practice.

A few years later, a few more certifications later, and the completion of a fellowship and we were officially being recognized as experts in the area.

We were starting to receive patient referrals from other physical therapists and physicians for patients who had failed treatment elsewhere. And guess what? We were getting them better. Click to see what some of our patient’s have said about us.

Throughout our years working for different private practices we could see the amazing impact physical therapy can have on people’s lives. But we also noticed how much better it could be if traditional private practices starting putting their patients first.

Almost since the beginning of our careers we have talked about starting our own practice so that we can get better patient outcomes. Now, we finally have!

We look forward to working with you to fulfill your goals!
